Is there such a thing as 'meaning' or 'purpose of life' or is it merely the aftermath of misguided, chaotic brain chemistry? If there is such a thing as 'meaning to life' why has it perplexed the world's best thinkers for centuries? As I began to embark on journey in answering the question of meaning I quickly discovered there were only a few approaches. On the one hand there is the religious approach, which has many themes and variations, then there is the self-help type, inspired largely by existential-humanist psychology and finally, there is the notion that meaning is essentially an illusion, often held by those who embrace a belief in scientific-reductionistic materialism. All of these perspectives have some beneficial qualities. A process that is very much about discovery and the pursuit of purposeful living.
